Is there any particular reason that we'd remove stuff that may potentially be useful in the future? In particular, in this patch I'm looking at the ljtextutil.pl methods that were removed. It certainly doesn't hurt to keep those around, and I could definitely see them being useful in the future if we need to do some entry parsing for something.

In general, just because a method isn't being used doesn't mean it's not a useful method. Though I guess this is something I should put on the bug and not in here, since it's a more general comment.
