And no, it shouldn't work on comments when this goes live. Would be pretty easy to add, though, just abstracting out that code to a meta-clean function... I didn't want to go there quite yet though, since I want to bang out the idea in events first.
Edit: oh, the external-user-reference is @xb95.livejournal.com -- period, not colon. I wanted it to kind of look like a domain name? My original idea was something like @xb95.lj but I wanted to use the external site system to make it easier... so this is meh?
