Will had a good birthday. Connor and I surprised him with lunch at school, and my mom took the afternoon off to meet him at the bus stop. He chose Cracker Barrel for dinner. It wasn't crowded, but the kitchen must have been understaffed because our food took forever. It was really good when it did arrive, though.
My mom got him a couple of nice books and a LEGO Harry Potter set (Hagrid's Hut). I got him a LEGO DC Universe set (Batwing Battle) and a grab bag of various books, CDs, DVDs, and video games. My sister and
mackatlaw both independently got him a one year subscription to National Geographic Kids, so I'm going to try to combine it into a two year subscription. Robby got him a huge laminated map of the United States, but we haven't figured out yet how we want to tack it to his wall.
It was the first day in a week that he hasn't spent glued to his DS version of LEGO Batman. Ever since I checked out KH Re:coded from the library, he was like, "Oh yeah, I have a DS and this game from Christmas I never played." It's very different from the full version - different levels, different abilities, different characters. He's able to get through it pretty well himself unless he has to do a long jump or glide. Then he gets frustrated and asks me to do those for him. Still, it's great progress for a kid who is perpetually intimidated by the Wii remote.
Still planning to go to the zoo this weekend, even though no one in my family understands what RSVP means. But my mom talked to my uncle and made it clear how important it was to the boys that they be there, so hopefully they can come.
Connor's birthday falls on Presidents Day this year and I think he wants to spend the day at McWane, which is fine if Robby or my mom will take the day off to go with us. Otherwise we'll get separated because the boys never stay together there, and it's easy to get lost in such a large place.
I'll try to post some pictures later. Right now I need to get cleaned up and run some errands. My chiropractor has my Girl Scout cookies!
